Baeshra The lady smiles at your response. "Well we haven't started cooking out on the grills yet and wont be for a few hours yet. However, if you like a meal now, you could move over to the Helm, just across the road. They do fine meals, but it can be a little dark in there for my liking, I'll tell ya. However, I can do you a tankard of water if that's what your after." She smiles while moving behind the bar and grabbing a tankard and moving to a smaller barrel than the two large ones that dominate behind the bar. She flips a tap connected to the barrel and a liquid fills the tankard. Bringing it back to you she places it on the bar. "Just a copper for that, if you please. So you're an adventurer, here in Red Larch? You slayed any monsters recently?" She asks with a keen smile to listen to you.
William Albaeri looks at you with a slight disgusted look as you call her out. "I beg your pardon? You have come into my shop where I do business and have no orders of stone to make, only asking questions about some silly rumor built by my employees to get away from working night shifts. I have no need for you in my shop unless you are here to conduct business. Can't you see that I am busy with work right now?" She gestures to the many pieces of parchment in front of her .

William expected a reaction like this, so he's not ruffled by her manner
"Ah do apologize. As Ah said, Father Imdarr was concern'd. He does have the best intentions fer yer crew. Ah'll take mah leave"
William bows slightly, then leaves the office. He'll take his time and wander around the quarry, hoping to to speak to any workers, but careful to not be seen by Albaeri

"Very well, Baeshra will stay here for the water." She slides one copper to the lady.
"Baeshra has just arrived here today. No monsters killed yet, but will deal with some bandits soon. Must wait for my travel companions first, though. Ask them if they assist."

William Albaeri rolls her eyes at you and you take your leave, not bothered by her approach towards you. As you get outside, you notice the sun high in the sky, beating down its rays on the links in your chainmail. You turn to the left and can see the path that leads into the quarry. From where you are standing, you cannot see any workers inside the quarry, so you start to walk down the path, hoping Albaeri does not see you.
As you walk past the window of the small shop where Albaeri was, you can now see the quarry in its entirety. A large pit of stone that has formed a small crater in the countryside on the edge of Red Larch. You can currently see about four people, all busy cutting stone with picks. None of them seem to notice you as you enter the quarry as they continue hard at work.
Randall,Xander You both leave the clicking behind and share a few words with each other before deciding to head towards the Swinging Sword, hoping you may find the others you travelled with to Red Larch. The sun is high in the sky and beats down on you both as you walk through the main street of Red Larch.
You both eventually come across a three-story stone building, crowned by a steep slate roof that bristles with many chimneys. A sign board just out over the door, hanging from chains, of a ten-foot-long carved wooden scimitar emblazoned with the inn's name in red paint on both sides. You step inside and are met with the luxurious sight of a taproom, warmed by the hearth on the western side of the room. Draperies and tapestries line the walls of the room with many depictions of tales running among them.
You can see the lizardfolk with the mix of grey and black scales currently sat at the bar that sits on the east side of the room. She is currently sat with a tankard in hand, and is talking to a small female who looks to be in her fortys. They both seem to be deep in conversation, before Baeshra turns to look at you both.
Baeshra The lady smiles at your response, warmly. "Well, bandits are dangerous. Each one dealt with is one less to deal with here in Red Larch. So it seems you are doing some good with this town already, Baeshra. There have been quite a few disturbances near Red Larch recently. They say dense fogs persist in the Sumber hills, even in the brightest of sunlight and sudden gusts of hot wind sweeping west out of the hills where the breezes have always been cold.
More violent sightings also. Sudden bolts of lightning stabbing up from the hills into a clear sky. It's all fell magic I tell ya. I reckon it's all to do with the evil presence at Lance Rock. I've spoken to Harburk and the town elders, but they just throw my suggestions to the side. I don't understand wh-" she is cut off by the sound of the door opening. You turn to look and can see two of the men you travelled to Red Larch with, Randall and Xander.

Baeshra listens to the woman and nods along, feeling like she found someone who understands her concerns. She then turns at the sound of people entering.
"Ah! The travel companions! Baeshra has been waiting to see you. I have found an important job, but it is not suited for a lonely lizardfolk. Sit down to talk, yess?"

Xander walks over to join Baeshra, and sits down.
“Oh? The two of us happened to find a job that requires more help as well, but please, you first”
Xander says, waiting for a response

Baeshra,Randall,Xander "Welcome to the Swinging Sword! I understand you are both here with Baeshra. Please come find me if you need a room for the night, or if you just want to talk more about the goings on around here!" She says with a light hearted smile. You all then make your way away from the bar and find a table where you can all converse. (Entering IC chat)
William You briefly look over your shoulder as you make your way into the quarry, looking for any signs of Albaeri, but do not see her. You get closer to one of the quarry workers and ask him a question about the rumors. You scare him slightly as your announce your presence. He looks around behind you before looking at you again. "Rumors? They ain't no rumors. Albaeri makes us work night shifts when we're backed on orders, but none of us want to work it, due to the shadow figures being around this quarry every other night." He shiftily looks behind you again for any signs of anyone coming.

William "Well, it's been a while since we've done a night shift. We've been refusing to since last week and I dont think anyone has done any night shifts since. Albaeri keeps insisting we do the night shift and doesn't believe us and what we saw, but we saw them. I swear." He looks behind you once again before raising his pick over his shoulder.
"You better leave before Albaeri sees you down here. She has a thing about unauthorised personnel in the quarry." He says as he wipes a bead of sweat from his brow.

William The man gives you a curt nod before going back to hammering at the stone in front of him as you walk away. As you walk past the house of Albaeri, you glance at the window and notice she is stood looking out, directly at you, a scowl crossing her face. She continues to watch as you walk away and back into Red Larch towards the inn.
After a few minutes of pacing you eventually come across a three-story stone building, crowned by a steep slate roof that bristles with many chimneys.
Looking around, you notice a large entryway into a hall with multiple tables. You also notice the three people you travelled here to Red Larch with are currently sat conversing at a table before they all look over to you. (Entering IC chat)

The group discuss the problems that their own faction contact had passed onto them all. The group all agree that something needs to be done and decide to follow Baeshra's lead first with the group of bandits who have apparently captured a bear against its own will. Everyone finishes their purchased beverages from the inn and then all stand from the table and exit the hall into the taproom. "It was lovely meeting you all. Please come back if you plan on staying here in Red Larch for a while. We have plenty of rooms available. I feel like you may all do good things for this town." The woman behind the bar smiles as you all exit the inn, and head into the still bustling crossroads of Red Larch.
With Baeshra leading the way out of Red Larch, the group continue on the Eastern Cairn road and start to follow the trail. It takes the group just under quarter of an hour before Baeshra points out the lake that Constable Harburk told her about. The group start to scan the edges of the small lake looking for any signs of bandits, but do not see anything on the close edges. Baeshra then suggests the dell that is on the other side of the lake, just below a small hill.
After some more walking, the group get closer to the dell and are able to see more. In the brush-choked dell a short distance from the Cairn road is a makeshift camp in front of a cave entrance. Four surly humans sharpen their blades and aim their crossbows around the small campfire. Nearby is a wagon with a wooden cage atop it. Inside the cage, a black bear paws at the bars. As the group approach a little closer, one of the bandits realises the groups arrival and instantly turns and aims his crossbow at the group. "We got incoming lads!" He shouts as he releases the crossbow bolt towards the party.

The bolt from the crossbow flies through the air and sails over the top of Randall's cloak, narrowly missing him.
William, it is your turn.

Sir William raises his shield as he advances on the group of bandits while twirling his flail through the air. As he gets within range of the closest bandit, he swings the twirling flail into the bandits chest. A heavy crack can be heard as his sternum is broken and falls on his back, next to the campfire. He does not wake from the eternal slumber William just sent him to.
Xander, it is your turn.

Xander pulls his bow and draws an arrow and releases it. The arrow splits the air and pierces into the chest of the bandit that Xander was aiming for. He grips the arrow and snaps the shaft, looking up and seeing Xander dive into cover of the trees.
The black bear in the cage let's out a loud growl as the combat starts. It slams itself into the door of the cage, but only hurts itself in the process. The piton forced to lock the door remains where it is.
Baeshra starts to move forwards towards the bear. As she does she shouts an incantation in quite a gnarled voice towards the three bandits. The campfire starts to glow in a green light that is almnost reflective of the brush surrounding the small group. Two of the bandits also start to glow an outline of green also. They look confused as the light is illuminating them.
Randall, it is your turn.

Randall whispers what seems to be a forgotten chant on an ancient language (infernal) an moves his hand as if commanding the forces from the under the earth to emerge and them points and gazes menancily towards the injured bandit.
A faint chime echoes in the distance and the man is engulfed in swift moving shadows for a brief moment (cantrip: toll the dead - wis save DC 13).
Randall them looks for the closest cover in the battlefield and strafes in its direction keeping his eyes in the bandits.
