Features/Traits Paladin, level 1: ◆ Divine Sense (Paladin 1, PHB 84) [1 + Charisma modifier per long rest] As an action, I sense celestials/fiends/undead/consecrated/desecrated within 60 ft Until the end of my next turn, I sense the type/location if it is not behind total cover ◆ Lay on Hands (Paladin 1, PHB 84) [5× per long rest] As an action, I can use points in my pool to heal a touched, living creature's hit points I can neutralize poisons/diseases instead at a cost of 5 points per affliction ◆ Alert (Human variant feat) I can't be surprised while I'm conscious. I have a +5 bonus on initiative rolls. Other creatures don't gain advantage on attack rolls against me as a result of being hidden from me. ◆ Rustic Hospitality (Background feature) Since I come from the ranks of the common folk, I fit in among them with ease. I can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among other commoners, unless I have shown myself to be a danger to them. They will shield me from the law or anyone else searching for me, though they will not risk their lives for me.

Backstory William grew up living the life of a simple farmer. Raised with manners and respect for everyone, he was a good person. Loved the village he lived in. Loved his parents. Not long after his 18th birthday, a small group of goblins attacked the village, pillaging whatever they could. Taking up a threshing flail, William assisted in the defense of the village. During the battle, he was filled with a conviction, a purpose. To defend others. Driving back the goblins, he then spent time helping the wounded. Fortunately, no one in the village perished. Just several wounded, some severe. His family's farm was wrecked. Once all was settled, he gathered some supplies, and, filled with a divine purpose, set out to earn money that would be used to help his family's farm, as well as the rest of the village, recover from the devastating goblin attack.
